How far will the Duke Blue Devils go?

A question from a reader: I have them beating Pittsburgh in the round of 32 but losing in the sweet 16. Does anyone else think this? No bias please.

They are set up to lose to VCU. VCU has quick, athletic guards. This is just what Paulus and co. struggle with. They will force him into pressing and making bad decisions. Guard play is so important in the tournament and, believe it or not, VCU is more talented in this area than Duke. Duke can win the game if they take advantage of their size advantage with McRoberts down low, but he has been so inconsistent it’s a toss up as to whether he can come through when relied upon. I think it will be close and Duke will lose. The good news is that they actually match up better with Pitt, so if they can make it past the first round they look good to make it to the sweet 16 where they would lose to UCLA. UCLA has better guards and perimeter pressure than VCU. Paulus would be a turnover machine against them.

Pitt should beat them in the 32 if they make it that far…
