Is anyone else happy that Mark Brunell won a Superbowl Ring?

A question from a reader: I know he wasn’t a big part of the game but he had so many good years as the Jaguars starting Quarterback leading them to 2 AFC Championship games. I’m so happy he won a Superbowl Ring.

  1. He deserved it…He has had a great career

No one really acknowledges it but brunnel helped brees in the practice and in the filmroom from his experience

    Peyton Manning sucks

I’m happy when anyone wins the super bowl as long as they are not a colts player:)

    Lions 4 Lombardi

I could honestly not care less. Same thing happened to Drew Bledsoe and Trent Green. In my mind, those backups did not deserve a ring.

he is an aged veteran, I’m glad he has one.

  6. I like Mark Brunell and I think he is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL. He had a decent career with the Jags as well, glad he finally got a ring.

  7. idc…

  8. 4shooo. =D

  9. Everyone in my household ecstatic for Brunell.

  10. he didnt win a ring period…. example: how many ring does steve young have? I (a 49er fan) say 1, steve says 1, the record books says 3… example shockey was asked on media day “whats it like to be back at the superbowl?” his answer i dont know because i’ve never played in a superbowl before. the reporter then said but yu won a ring with the giants in 2007. he said no i did not look at the game tape i didnt play…… ask any pro athlete, if your not playing, your not winning.

  11. I’m happy as well. He had a very good career and he deserved it. I’d much rather it go to a guy like Brunell than some rookie backup who they had just drafted.

Yeah I forgot he was on the saints team.

  14. Thrilled!!!!!

I was a huge Mark Brunell fan when he was the quarterback for the Jaguars and was so upset when he left J’ville.

It was so great to see him on the field in the game and to know he now has the superbowl ring.

Also, there is a lot to being on a team than being the quarterback. Mark is a mentor and all of his years of experience on and off the field helped the Saints to victory.

He’s a great quarterback on the back side of a great career and he has a lot still left to give even if it’s not in the quarterback position.

He earned that ring for sure and he should be really proud!

  15. I’m very happy for the guy. He’s been very underrated over the course of his career, and he didn’t deserve a lot of the derogatory stuff he’s gotten, especially from the Redskins fans (for whom he had a Pro Bowl-caliber, playoff season in 2005). He’s a class act.

And yes, he did play in the Super Bowl. He was the holder on the three field goals and on the extra points. To cut off any “Holder? Who cares about the holder?” replies to this, I’ll merely point to Tony Romo from a few post-seasons back.

    Good for you, Mark.
